Recent Cases

People v. TS (Cook County 2005)
Defendant was charged with first-degree murder.  Mr. Rosenblat was retained by Defendant's family to represent Defendant.  Defendant was extradited from Utah.  Mr. Rosenblat contacted the officials holding the Defendant in Utah, the local police department, and the Cook County State's Attorney assigned to this case.  At Defendant's bond hearing, the State dismissed all charges, including the first-degree murder charge, against the Defendant.

People v. BG (Cook County 2006)

Defendant had several pending cases and the charges included the following:  Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Kidnapping, Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, 4 x Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, 2 x Unlawful use of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Penal Institution, Possession of Cannabis in a Penal Institution, and Unlawful use of a Weapon by a Felon.  Mr. Rosenblat was able to successfully negotiate a dismissal of several charges and cases and Defendant ultimately plead guilty to several offenses in August 2006.  Defendant has a project release date of October 2008.

Murder

Sec. 9-1. (a) A person who kills an individual without lawful justification commits first degree murder if, in performing the acts which cause the death:

(1) he either intends to kill or do great bodily harm to that individual or another, or knows that such acts will cause death to that individual or another; or

(2) he knows that such acts create a strong probability of death or great bodily harm to that individual or another; or

(3) he is attempting or committing a forcible felony other than second degree murder.

Kidnapping and Related Offenses

 Sec. 10-1. Kidnapping. (a) Kidnapping occurs when a person knowingly:

(1) And secretly confines another against his will, or

(2) By force or threat of imminent force carries another from one place to another with intent secretly to confine him against his will, or

(3) By deceit or enticement induces another to go from one place to another with intent secretly to confine him against his will.

(b) Confinement of a child under the age of 13 years is against his will within the meaning of this Section if such confinement is without the consent of his parent or legal guardian.
